  "You can find poetry in your everyday life, your memory, in what people say on the bus, in the news, or just what's in your heart."

WELCOME TO

MY WORLD

Gillian Byrom-Smith - Writer

Some of my fondest memories involve books; as a child sitting with my mum reading, studying English at university and working in bookshops. Filling the shelves with other people’s work I often wondered how it would feel to finally write the novel which I had been writing in my head for so long. I enjoy writing poetry and have recently had some of my poems turned into songs and performed. I thoroughly enjoy the creative experience and having the time to let my imagination take flight.

POEM OF THE MONTH

Flying Not Diving

by Gillian Byrom-Smith

Silver stretching skywards.

Skydiving; flying not sea diving.

Piercing clouds not waves.

Her shadow marking time;

a sundial to gulls.

Flying not sea diving,

Piercing clouds not waves.

Lady of sky, lady of sea.

Flying not sea diving,

Piercing clouds not wave
