Happy National Poetry Day. As autumn is upon us, following the last few weeks of sunshine and blue skies, please enjoy my seasonal poem 'Fall.'
Fall by Gillian Byrom-Smith
Leaves are falling now
like brittle, muted,
butterflies fluttering
slowly, silently
to the ground.
Autumn approaches
stealthily, through the
sunshine and blue
skies that remain
of summer.
Trying to remain
undetected, the season
changes as we know
it will, but wish it
would not.
Evenings grow longer,
stars shine brighter.
Trees lose their colour,
roses their heady perfume.
